LHS teacher Jacqueline Benoist strives to encourage student success

Alicia Nagda, Staff Writer – Lecanto High School [LHS] has a variety of veteran teachers who have served the education system for many years. Jacqueline Benoist has worked at LHS since 2003 and currently teaches physics and calculus. Benoist was formerly a physicist for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and both of her children are alumni of LHS. She plans on teaching here for many years to come.

Benoist felt that an integral aspect of LHS is the culture of the school and the positive energy that it gives off.

“I love the supportive environment here. From administrators, to co-workers, to students, I always feel welcomed, encouraged, and appreciated,” said Benoist.

Students enjoy her readiness to assist struggling students through any means she can.

“[Benoist] has always been there for us when it comes to math. She is always ready to help you understand something you can’t understand,” said sophomore Apoorva Desaraju.

Students also appreciate how Benoist has been a reliable tutor, encouraging her students to be more proficient in their studies and generally inspiring success.

“She comes to my house to tutor me and really truly builds my confidence when I am struggling with my homework or studying for a test,” said freshman Kashin Mathur.

To many LHS students, Benoist has left a lasting impression on them that they will never forget after graduation.

“Mrs. Benoist will always be one of my favorite teachers. She has been there for me through all the tough times. I will definitely miss her,” said senior Mary Recta.

“Mrs.Benoist has greatly impacted my high school experience. I am going to miss her so much [after graduation]. She is so special and really cares for every student that she has,” said senior Arjun Deven.

In all regards, Benoist has been an incredible asset to LHS for many years and will continue to make a positive impact for years to come.
